Recitals and Performance Opportunities________________
Recitals and performances are scheduled throughout the year to provide an opportunity for students to share their music with others. Recitals can help build the student's self-confidence, and hearing the performances of other students can sometimes provide great inspiration. In addition, there are opportunities for students to participate in local competitions and festivals. Many students also participate in their school talent shows.

Upcoming Events
Colorado Music Federation - Denver South Area Spring Festival March 14, 2020 - Event Cancelled due to Covid - 19 pandemic.
Littleton High School, 199 E. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, CO 80121
At the Colorado Music Federation events, piano students may participate in any of the following events: Solo piano, Piano duet, Piano trio, American Patriotic and Folk Song Event, and Theory Exam.
In the solo piano event the student plays two memorized pieces. One piece must be selected from the Federation's list of required compositions, and there are some limitations involved for the selection of the choice piece also.
The student must submit an application approximately 8-10 weeks prior to the festival date, and there is an entry fee of $30 for each event the student selects. When the student submits their application, they must submit the pieces that they are playing in the festival. These pieces cannot be changed after they have been approved. Students must play each piece as written and cannot make changes or alter the composition in any way.
The student must own the sheet music or book in which the pieces are published. The student must bring his/her music with them to the festival and present it to the judges at the time of the performance. Once we select a composition for your student, I will order the sheet music for you if I do not already have it on hand. The Music Federation uses the same list of required pieces for four years, 2017 - 2020, so if students hear pieces at the festival that they would enjoy playing, it is possible that they could play that piece the next year.
Any student who receives a Superior rating in this event will be invited to play in the CFMC State Competitive Festival in April. Students can earn points toward trophies during the March festival. Points can accumulate from one year to the next. They must accumulate 15 points for the First Cup. A Superior rating earns 5 points toward a trophy. Excellent is 4 points, Satisfactory is 3 points. They must accumulate an additional 15 points to secure the Six Year Cup
